The III Polish Oncology Congress was held from 10-13 October 2012 in the Centennial Hall and at the premises of the Wrocław Congress Center. The event, which brought together nearly 2,000 participants – including oncologists, specialists and researchers, as well as medical students interested in the subject of congress, became an extremely important platform for exchange of knowledge, enhance skills and abilities. During educational and thematic sessions the guests debated on diagnosis and methods of treatment of tumours, medicines and the latest medical techniques. The status of oncology in Poland was also discussed.
Congress had a global scope. The event was attended by experts from leading oncology centers from the United States, Germany, Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Russia, Japan and other countries, as well as by representatives of the world’s largest oncology organizations. Nobel Prize winner – Professor Harald zur Hausen from Germany, also graced the city with his presence.
The organizers of congress were: Polish Society of Oncology, other societies belonging to the Polish Federation of Oncology Societies and Lower Silesian Oncology Center. Convention Bureau – Wrocław has provided professional support of volunteers and coordinated transport for the most important guests.
Polish Oncology Congress is a cyclical event. The previous edition of the congress took place in 2002 in Poznań. The next will be held in 2006 in Łódź.
