2022-08-31‘Walk a LOT’ promotional workshop series also in Wrocław!
2022-09-07The Freedom Festival took place on 4th and 5th June in Wrocław. This two-day festivity was an initiative related to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Poland’s independence and the next anniversary of elections on June 4th 1989, for which several events were organised. The event was attended b y 470 people, of whom 326 were participating as visitors.
The event’s programme included many more or less official celebrations, interesting meetings and debates.
The Festival began on June 4th with Freedom Breakfast, at a round table, on the Wroclaw’s market square. After the breakfast there was the parade with vehicles going from the Market Square towards Graniczna Street, where the official naming of 4th June Roundabout and Zbigniew Brzezinski Street took place. As the final public event, a discussion panel entitled ‘What has Poland brought to the world?’ was organised.
On the last day, the Freedom Festival Forum was held in the Wroclaw Congress Centre (Centennial Hall aggregate). Invited guests and politicians attend the Forum and discussed various issues of freedom, democracy and the future of Europe.
The President of Wrocław Rafał Dutkiewicz gave the opening speach. The participants of presidential debate were Lech Wałęsa, Aleksander Kwaśniewski, Václav Klaus and Bronisław Komorowski. In the following sessions, covering topics of the future of Europe, some of the speakers were: prof. Joseph Weiler, Stanisław Tillicg, Leszek Bacerowicz, Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz, Lee Feinstein, Mykoła Riabczuk, Stanisław Szuszkiewicz and Paweł Kowal.
