The main building of the National Museum in Wroclaw is located in the building of former Governorship of the Silesian Province, built in the northern neo-renaissance style. It was erected in the years 1883-1886 according to the design of a German architect Karl Freiedrich Endell (1843-1891) and is part of representative architectural complex on the south bank of the Odra River, located between Xawery Dunikowski Boulevard and Powstańców Warszawy Square.
