17th Congress of the International Federation of Associations of Classical Studies (FIEC)

The University of Wrocław will host the 17th Congress of the International Federation of Associations of Classical Studies (FIEC), one of the world’s most important academic events dedicated to the study of the ancient world. Organized by the Polish Philological Association, the congress is expected to bring together around one thousand scholars from across the globe, representing various fields of classical studies.

Sessions will be held in the university’s historic and modern facilities, with plenary lectures delivered by renowned experts such as Benjamin Acosta-Hughes, Eleanor Dickey, Gesine Manuwald, Edith Hall, and Ivana Petrovic. The congress will also feature a special session commemorating the 75th anniversary of FIEC, offering reflections on the federation’s legacy and its future in a changing academic landscape.

A rich cultural program will accompany the scholarly activities, including a baroque music concert in one of the university’s historic halls and an evening dinner cruise on the Odra River. Participants will benefit not only from academic exchange but also from a welcoming and integrative social atmosphere.

The registration fee includes access to all sessions, conference materials, lunches, and coffee breaks. Registration is available online, and space is limited.
