
OPEN SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION OF ARTISTIC WORKS – JAPANESE FASCINATIONS OF THE WROCŁAW SCIENTIFIC AND ARTISTIC COMMUNITY
An open conference combined with an exhibition of artistic works and other attractions.
Organizers: the School of Ancient and Oriental Languages at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Wroclaw, together with the Wroclaw Academy of Fine Arts. The event will take place tomorrow (January 21) at the SJAiO headquarters at 21 Komuny Paryskiej Street.
The academic part of the program will include lectures on socio-cultural anthropology (including where the Japanese language came from and the norms of social behavior in Japan), as well as literature and art (such as Japanese ancestral signs) and pop culture.
The artistic part, “Komorebi,” is an exhibition of works by artists affiliated with the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw inspired by Japanese culture, both ancient and modern. It will begin at 6 pm.
There will also be an exhibition of everyday objects from Japan and a screening of the famous 1988 animated film “Hotaru no Haka” (“Tomb of the Skylights”).
