History is repeating itself, that is, Wrocław modernism in transport and architecture | Welcome to the 95th birthday of the WuWA estate

We would like to invite you to celebrate together the 95th birthday of the WuWA estate, which was established as part of the Wohnung und Werkraum (Living and work space) Ausstellung in 1929. This unique place is one of the six model Werkbund housing estates realised in Europe in the late 1920s and early 1930s.

As part of the celebrations, we have prepared a celebration of the 95th birthday of the WuWA estate and a series of guided walks through WuWA. Registration is required for all activities (links to registration are provided below).

The celebration of this modernist housing estate, which will take place on 19 October 2024, will begin at 10:00 with a group field game through the estate and its immediate surroundings. The game will start at InfoWuWA. Groups of 3-4 people are welcome to enter. There will be prizes for the winning team. During the game, we will take a time machine back to the 1920s……

After integration and having fun, at 12:30 we invite you to the Lower Silesian Regional Chamber of Architects for a large dose of knowledge about the history and architecture of WuWA.  A tour of the former hotel house for single people and childless couples No. 31., now the Hotel of the Training Centre of the State Labour Inspection, is scheduled for 13:30. Finally, after 14:30, we invite you to InfoWuWa for a joint discussion and a conclusion.

In addition, throughout the event we invite you to the WuWA Cafe for coffee and tea – it will be free for the first 100 people!

The walks will take place throughout October, all starting at 10:00am from InfoWuWA. Registration is also required for the walks, and everyone is welcome to attend.

The series will begin with the ‘Walk with Knowledge’ , which will take place on Thursday 3.10.2024. Due to the high educational value of the walk, we particularly encourage secondary school students.

This will be followed by a ‘Let’s Walk Together’ on Saturday 26.10.2024, so just as the name suggests, everyone is invited to walk together and listen to interesting facts about this little-known historical buildings.

A walk entitled ‘WuWA for seniors and more’ on Tuesday 29.10.2024 will conclude our series. Additional stops will be provided during this peaceful walk.
