In September 2019 Wrocław will host the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) General Conference, which is the biggest and the most prestigious conference on political science. Its organizer will be the Institute of Political Science at the University of Wrocław.
The General Conference is the platform for discussion, exchange of ideas, and is the biggest European gathering of political scientists at all stages of their career. The Programme of the conference is very rich with Sections covering all the main areas of political science, political theory and international relations.
The first ECPR's General Conference took place in Canterbury, UK in 2001. Since then, General Conferences had been held biannually in a range of European cities. Due to its success, the General Conference became an annual event in 2014.
The conference is split on sections, which have between three and eight panels within them. These sections are focused on major research questions, due to which the political scientists from Europe can discuss common themes, ask questions and look for solutions. The conference constitutes a forum for rich discussion, so the participants may broaden their knowledge and find inspiration to develop their research.
The panels gather together persons with common scientific interests. Because of it, the panellists may get the feedback on their papers during the consecutive debates and discussions. Within the programme of the conference, apart from sections and panels, there will be round tables, plenary lectures and interesting accompanying events.
